what is SuperBit?

Higher bitrate for better quality video. Usually, the disc contains nothing but the movie and one audio track.

They re-release films with better video transfers and digitally remastered sound, usually increasing picture quality and most of the time adding DTS support where the original release lacked it. Some Superbit releases have extra features not on the original disc. I must question the company's choice of what movies to apply this to, however.

Superbit is a Sony/Columbia/Tri-Star venture. They can only release movies in which they own the distribution rights, so their choices are limited.

Other companies do the same thing under different names. Like "Vista Series" or "Criterion Collection."
