Causing more pain to more people really doesn't help anything, regardless of what the person feeling the pain may have done. The punishment should be beneficial - whether to the perpetrator or society as a whole, or both.
I don't know that there's anything that can be done for someone who kills babies to help them become a productive member of society, but certainly torturing that person isn't going to benefit society any more than just locking her up in jail.
Locking her up in jail doesn't benefit society one bit. Killing the b1tch, will be the inexpensive way to go about it and maybe, just maybe, it will prevent some other b1tch from doing the same.

We've established that she's nuts, psycho, crazy, etc. What makes you think that executing her will make other people who are crazy, nuts, and psycho from doing the same thing? Deterrence works on the principle that when you establish that A->B, and B is something unpleasant, you refrain from doing A. In other words, it requires someone who is reasonable. Persons who slam their children into pavements could hardly be considered reasonable...so why would deterrence work? It doesn't.
Edit: Death penalty trials are incredibly complex, incredibly expensive, and incredibly time-consuming. You usually have to deal with multiple levels of appeal, etc. It's generally accepted that life imprisonment IS cheaper in the long run, usually also because the immate is put to work at some task.
just because she murdered her child doesnt mean she is crazy. some people are just evil, period.
i say public execution. drawn and quartered, preferably. brutal crimes deserve brutal punishments.
