If the brightness modes are anything like the Ultra-Brite on the P95F+B that I have, it goes far beyond what the normal settings do. What you do is setup your brightness and contrast for normal viewing and leave them alone. Then, say if you are watching a dvd or playing a game and it just isn't bright enough, you use the presets to crank the brightness. It not only seems to increase the brightness, but also the overall intesity of the image so it doesn't just get super bright, but more defined across the whole spectrum, including the darker colors. It is quite dramatic and means that you don't have to screw around with your normal settings. It may not seem like much before you use it, but once you do, you see how handy of a feature it truely is.
