Hi, can people please gimme some advantage of Directx 9.0a?

I was using Directx8.1 and just installed Directx9.0a because i wanted to test it with 3dMark03.

after the test, i believe it is not so amazing, under 3dmark01se i even have a low score.

should i UNINSTALL it? will there be any harm to my OS?

Windows XP pro. I own a pirate copy

and how ?

There's nothing wrong with dx9a. It doesn't noticibly slow anything down. I run it on my LEGAL XP home with a radeon 8500 128MB.

In theory DirectX should always be backwards compatible, that is if a game needs DX9 it will continue to work on DX10, DX11 etc.

You will need it for future games. Well, at least until Directx 10 arrives ;)

I have a WinXP Pro, PIII 600EB and Riva TNT2 32Mb ... installed Directx9 and no drop in performance ... at least to my eye, I don't use any software to compare frame-by-frame.

I just dl'd and played a demo (star trek away team 2 or something) and when I installed it, it said I needed Directx 9.

Last I knew, all I had was 8. It worked, tho.
