Just found this over the Hotdeal forum and thinking about getting it.
It must be new and I do not see review anywhere.
How does it stack up against the Dell 2007fpw, or even the ACER AL2216WBD?

Spec
22" wide flat panel display
Resolution: 1680 x 1050 WSXGA+
Contrast ratio: 1200:1
Response Time: 5ms
Brightness: 300nit (cd/m²)
Viewing Angle: 170 (H) / 160(V)

$299 @ Costco

I thought the specs were sweet when I first read your post and thought you said 20" screen, but now that I see it's a 22" with those specs...and that price. Holy freaking cow.

Do you need a membership to purchase from costco online? If not, I'm there.
Sceptre usually makes decent/good LCDs, especially for the money.

Wow looks impressive. I heard that a slew of large monitors were comming out at low prices for this X-mas season. Didn't think I would be seeing this low of a price.

Still drooling here over this deal. I wish some one with more knowlage about LCDs (not hard to do) would review this product. The clincher for me is the HDMI support. I figure by the time I need HDMI some one will crack it, but why chance it.

One of my friends has got the exact same monitor; it's seems to have pretty good display quality and teh response time is indeed fast.

Yeah so excited about it 2.... Since it says it has HDMI does that mean it's HDCP ready??? Like able to play Hi-def content from bluray or hd-dvd ? or does it mean something else?

Support DVI, VGA, HDMI(HDCP, 2nd DVI)

Says it does on the manufacturers web page, most PC monitors don't regardless of DVI or HDMI (both of which can have HDCP).

Side, not back, but yeah. A couple of monitors are doing this now, to declutter the front bezel's appearance.

I'm pretty sure anything that has HDMI is HDCP compliant. Remember this screen doesn't support the highest resolution of HD (1920X1080), but it will support the baseline HD reslution (720p; 1280X720) no problem.

Yeah I was really disappointed it sold out so quickly, since it's sale was supposed to be until the end of this month. Maybe they'll get it back in stock in a few days or a week. I had emailed Sceptre to find out any information I could on the panel they were using and wanted clarification on whether it was really 8bit as claimed.

Let me know what they say if they respond to the 8bit question pls...

Does anyone read the LCD's buyers guide anymore?

This is tiring but i'll say it again.

This is a TN panel, which means its good for gaming and thats about it because of its fast response times. The dell 2007fpw will blow this monitor away in terms of viewing angles, color reproduction, contrast, etc. because Dells monitor is an S-IPS.

Usually TN's arent 8-bit panels, but rather are 6-Bit or 8-Bit dithered. If the specs do not clearly specify "8-bit" then most likely its a 6-bit. Also 16.7million colors does not mean its 8-Bit.

Lastly HDMI does not autmatically mean its HDCP compliant. Again if the specs dont say HDCP, then its not HDCP ready. I believe there are monitors out there that say both HDMI and HDCP.

Sceptre's HDMI ports are HDCP compliant. I have the 42 inch HDTV (1920x1080) and it has 2 HDMI ports which have HDCP compliance. I havent attatched a PC to it permanently, but I did get my X1900XTX to output 1080p to it, however I have no way of testing HDCP, but all their spec sheets say they do.

He is the spec sheet for this monitor, it also shows HDCP:

Sceptre's HDMI ports are HDCP compliant. I have the 42 inch HDTC (1920x1080) and it has 2 HDMI ports which have HDCP compliance. Also the spec sheet for this monitor shows HDCP:

You did not read my post clearly.

I said HDMI does not automatically mean HDCP.

Then i said "IF the specs dont say HDCP compliant then its not HDCP ready. I never said the Spectre was not hdcp compliant.

I'm 99% sure all HDMI ports are HDCP compliant. I think having HDCP is part of HDMI, at least from HDMI version 1.1 onwards...

If there are monitors with HDMI but no HDCP, then they are very rare. Can you find us an example of one?

Also, if you're expecting a $299 22" TN film screen to be 8-bit, then you're expecting a bit much! And your reports of viewing angles on eg the Dell 2007 are exaggerated. 6-bit TN film panels have come a long way, and viewing angles (particularly horizontal ones) are typically very good to excellent.

Do I have to spoon feed everything I say?

Where in my post does it say...

1. Spectre not HDCP compliant
2. Spectre not 8 bit

I was merely stating the attributes of TN, S-IPS, HDCP, and HDMI. If the monitor is this then it has this, if the monitor doesnt specify this then it doesnt have this, etc, etc.

In my post i'm just telling you what TN panels are and arent capable of.

I just remember that when HDCP/HDMI was first announced that HDMI!=HDCP, unless it was specified in the specs.

At this time i'm pretty sure all HDMI ports are HDCP compliant, but I would still make sure before dropping down a chunk of change.

Sounds good, still I don't like that Pixel Pitch: 0.282mm. Pixelation must be very visible, almost as bad as 19" 1280x1024
