I'l be buying a case and a PSU soon and I'm seeing some of the more expensive PSUs stating they're "SATA ready". Is this some new technology coming out and will I need it?

Thanks

It probably means that the PSU in question has SATA power cables.

stands for serial ata

faster than IDE and preferred by gamers

if your new computer doesn't come with a SATA or something better, you've just been ripped off

SATA can be optical drives or hard drives

when installin' w/ SATA make sure you got a floppy w/correct drivers available for the SATA controller
if not, you're screwed unless WinXP by default can detect it

you can get SATA I/O which will offer 300mbps, but 150mbps isn't bad either
