its like a dirty fog on the inside of car windows. its not dust since its simply a haze, but how does it get there? air pollution? what gives?

I've never had that problem.

Could it be light catching dust particles?

no its not as bad as a total fog up. but if you get into your car and rub a finger against the window in light u'll notice that u wiped away a layer of dirt.

that stupid thing comes from cheap interior waxes.. its the worst during hte summer. If you park in the sun with waxed dash exposed some of teh excess stuff evaporates.. and clings to the glass.

it icky i tell you.. just use decent glass cleaner (like amorall glass / windex and for the dash use a good dash protectant.. but I seldom use that stuff.

not sure if all dealers do but when they do an interior detail .. depending on the quality of the stuff things can vary. In general I use my own interior stuff and that reduces the stuff.. I use quality stuff on teh inside once every 3 months and that works great

That's the stuff...

There are several types of interior stuff. Some expensive (retail) some that your local hand wash uses. My brother and I stopped using this one handwash because the stuff they used on the inside caused it on both our cars. These days we got another handwash place and they do the ouside and we bring it home and do the interior with our stuff.

PVC is the plastic used for a lot of dashes. It has ingredients called plasticizers that allow it to be molded & processed easier (plus stuff for UV protection, color, etc.). The plasticizers migrate out of the resin when exposed to heat and light for long enough, that's what gets on your windshield. That's also why the dashes of old cars will crack easily, the plasticizer is mostly gone leaving just a brittle material.
