What is Remote Procedure Call (RPC)?

I dont know if it is someone trying to log onto my pc remotely or if it is a necessary service. Please advise thanks

I doubt it though, here is a good description of RPC...I don't think you want to disable it:

thanks, when I googled it, out came that blaster worm site that freaked me out a bit but then after reading a website as good as blackviper, Im relaxed and at ease, the sky is blue and the grass is green =)
