On my right click menu on xp for any folder, i get "Register servers" and "Unregister servers" under "Search..." I've never seen this before. When i click on it nothing apparent happens. I think a message appearls with a symbol of a sun or something but its too fast to see. What does it really do?

Odd. Check the add/remove programs list and see if there's something there that might have set up those items. Also check the startup tasks (in msconfig) to see if there's something loading you don't know about.

A quick search on Google found a mention of NetBIOS, pointing out that a workgroup's master browser receives registrations from each client. It might be that your system is, for some reason, configured to register shares with a master browser server.
