Generally, it refers to any in-game even that requires a large group of players (20+).

Specifically, a raid group is required to form a party with more than 5 players.

raid in MMORPG is just a mass of people coordinating to take out a major monster or whatever type of NPC.

You immediately run to the official WoW forums and cry nerf against whatever happened to kill you.

Since raids have a lot of people, usually one of the priests will just resurrect you. If they don't, or if everyone is dead, then everyone everyone becomes a ghost in spirit land and has to run to the dungeon they died at (if they want to give it another shot).

Okay, I guess 10 mans can be considered raids even though most just call them '10 mans' :p

back when i played it was when 40 people got together, called themselves a guild, and became greedy, full of drama, (read: crying and rage quitting and account selling). something like that. god i miss it. i wish i never sold my account, but that's like a crack addict saying they wished they never stopped smoking crack.

Sorry that your guild sucked bro. I would never raid if I weren't in such an awesome guild full of other semi-casual players. Hell, we only raid 4 nights a week and if you can't make it no one cares.

My idea is that if what you ain't doin is fun, then you shouldn't be doing it. Like I was leading a Sethekk Halls run (still trying to get my shoulders :(), and I was about as lax as could be, we joked around quite a bit (note it was a PUG, although the group was comprised of three guilds, 2 in one, 2 in one and me in the other) and had some fun. Although, after marking mobs, people were being slow to act. I think that's more because the one mage would be ready to poly and the other would just be standing there. After about 5 pulls of that, I started assigning saps to myself :p.

Oh and my damn shoulders didn't drop... but we did get a Primal Nether off a non-heroic run :Q!

EDIT:

Oh and you guys shoulda seen my super awesome skills!! Although I thought of the best way to do it afterward... mine wasn't bad. What happened during the last fight (Talon King Ikiss), is that people seemingly forgot that when he blinks/teleports, he drops all aggro. Well, we'd get behind a pillar and the priest would throw a renew on the tank. Heals are good yes, but then Ikiss would run after the priest who was on the other side and the tank was running around the other side of the pillar. So yeah, it ended up being me and a warrior left alive at around 20-25%. I had aggro on Ikiss, because I'm such a damage machina ( /flex ). Problem is... I was dying. I used Evasion but that eventually wore off and I potted but that only helps for a hit or two. So I hit sprint, ran over to the other side (since Ikiss is a slow bastard), popped Cloak of Shadows and bandaged. Since Ikiss loves to cast his arcane missiles, I just resisted it and kept on bandaging :D. The most efficient thing would've been to Vanish and let the warrior finally get aggro and I get polymorphed (it heals you) after hitting him once (I'd be second on the aggro chart). Then I go all out and attempt to pull it off the warrior. I ended up dying at about 3%, but the warrior finished him off with a full rage crit execute :p.

Wow stories are never good in a forum, I dont know why.

A raid is a group larger then a 5 man group. In WoW, in order to be able to communicate with multiple groups the lead needs to "convert to raid". This lets you keep track of things, move players, and use special skills on everyone grouped such as priests PW:Shield etc. So a 6 man group is a raid if the group has been converted to raid.

Probably loses a lot of the emphasis that you get in real life telling a story. Usually humorous stories or sad stories do the best on teh intarwebz. I was kind of proud of myself doing something like that though... it's been so long since I've played my rogue and adapting back to my level of pwnage is always good to see :D.

Haha, maybe it'd be a bit better if it wasn't written in "enthusiastic zomg fashion" but in "movie trailer mode" fashion :p.

I guess you better hope a level 60 necrophiliac doesn't get there first. :Q
