Channeling is where you "bond" two different physical ports together into a single connection for higher bandwidth and redundancy. It's often called the Cisco term of "Fast EtherChannel". Note that this is different than just plugging in two Ethernet cables. In a port channel, there's one physical MAC address so, to the world beyond the switches, it looks like one NIC, not two individual NIC's.
