If you watch the video with the audio muted, you'd think he had Parkinson's Disease.

I don't know much about Perry and don't really have an opinion on him. I did watch about 5 min of that video and I don't know what the big deal is. I got the feeling he was going without a script, but I wouldn't call it "bizarre" or "incoherent".

It's definitely strange. Perhaps this is what happens when a politician who is not a naturally gifted extemporaneous speaker has a cocktail or two first, then goes out without a script. It's not the weirdest thing I've ever seen but it doesn't bode well for him. Fortunately his bubble has pretty well burst anyway.

Look at the end where he accepts the maple syrup.

Is that not bizarre? As if the rest of the speech doesn't offer enough bizarre moments.

I saw that on the Daily Show last night, and it was rather hilarious. Although, as much as Stewart has made fun of him on the show, he actually seemed... a lot more likable as the "silly goofball." Maybe he's trying to appeal to our love of that crazy uncle at family reunions that would always try to get us to pull his finger. :)

Parkinsons is caused by a lack of dopamine. Maybe he's going through cocaine or amphetamine withdrawal.

I'm genuinely curious how many Washington politicians would test positive for cocaine if given a random test with no warning.

Just watched the video... definitely not entirely sober. I do agree that he came across as more likable though :p

It's not that terrible of behavior. The problem with the Dean speech isn't that Perry's is worse, which i is, but that the reaction to the Dean speech was absurd.

Howard Dean IMO might be our best candidate we had in several elections. Nothing in his speech was any problem for him being president.

Whether it was more the media selling the line that it 'disqualified him' or voters reacting poorly, it was wrong. This shows a 'good old boy' back slapping side of Perry.

It does come across as a bit more than that, a sort of weird childish behavior at times - what did he keep leaning to peek at - but not that big a deal.

It's his policies, ignorance, corruption that are the problem.

Channeling Dr. Dean (yes, St. Paul is not the only doctor to have run for President).

Seriously this guy makes GWB look intelligent.

He's doing God's work, God asked him to run for President. Do not mock God's messenger.

That apparently is the saying in Texas "Perry is like GWB except dumber".

I wouldn't know for sure, only my in-laws live in Texas:$

Bachmann, Perry, and Cain, all claimed God "called them" to run.

As Bill Maher said, Does that mean God's fucking with two of them?
