After lots of troubleshooting and help from forum members I decided to do a clean reinstall of Windows XP on the following system:

Abit AN8 Ultra MB
AMD X2 3800+ CPU
2 gb Corsair Value Select RAM
250 Gb Western Digital HD
EVGA Nvidia 6800 GS 256k
Thermaltake 430W PS
Window XP Home

The system was randomly freezing and I got a few BSODs. After reinstall my PCI modem was not being recognized. Device Manager Shows a yellow question mark for PCI Bridge.

Is there a driver I can install to solve this? I reinstalled the drivers on the Abit CD after the windows install.

Is this a MB based hardware problem?

Could this be the cause of the random freezing (even when the modem wasn't being used).

Thanks for your help.

Just install the nvidia chip set drivers. (The PCI bridge is the chip set component that ties the PCI bus to the rest of the system. If you don't have the driver installed, the computer will use a generic driver and will work, but performance could be sub-optimal.)

Dave, I downloaded the NForce drivers from the Abit website and will try them tonight. Thanks for the reply.
