what is "parallel import"?

Hmm what I actually mean is that how come parallel imported digital cameras are much cheaper than regular priced ones?
 
its probably another term for gray market, which means you won't have a factory warranty or documentation and that the place you're buying from is more likely to scam you than send you a product.
