I did a windows repair using the windows xp disk. After it got done the computer said it did not detect any ides. I had a dvd/rw, cd/rw and HD plugged in. I was told to try to reset the cmos. After I did that I would get no picture. The light on the monitor would stay orange and not turn green. I messed with it for a while and finnaly got a picture and it said no IDE. I did an RMA on my MB. Got it backed today. They said they had to flash the BIOS. I hooked it up and still no picture. What is causing this? I know the monitor works and I am pretty sure the video card does since it came on once and it said no IDEs. Could it be memory or processor?

I just get a short beep

well if this short beep is the same short beep I'm thinking of, it means everything works. Maybe jiggle the cable?

The video cable? I am using that one right now on a different pc. Before I sent my board off it came on once and still detected no IDEs. I am about to just test every part. New memory and video card.

ok let me see if i understand... you repaired windows with the windows xp installation disc and after its done you did reset and the computer did not detect any ides...?
can you give some details about your computer...?
i doubt that it has something to do with the processor or the memory....

I did repaired windows using the disk then reset and it detected no ides. The MB manufacture told me to reset the cmos and after I did that I get no picture. The monitor light stays orange like it is in standby.

I have an
asus p4p000 MB
intel 2.4c processor
kingston pc2700 512mb ram
maxtor 160gb HD
radeon 9500 pro video card
TDK cd/rw
pioneer dvd/rw
I have a 350 watt power supply

This stuff has been working over a year

RMA is return merchandies authorization or something like that.

They tell me where to send the part and they repair it.

You could try refomating your whole hd. Then reinstall windows and see if that helps at all. At one point my drives weren't being detected. Until I messed around with the bios for a while, and finally it was detected. I your hd on master?????? What about your cd drives??????

I can't even get into my bios. When I turn on the computer it beeps and the hd light comes on and the cd-rom drives lights comeon but the monitor stays off. It is like it is not even plugged into the computer. But once it did comeon and the bios said it did not detect any IDEs
