I'm wondering if I'll be able to run divx movies off an old 300 mhz k6-2 computer I have using a video out card. Will they run on a cpu of this speed, and how nice of a vid card would I need in order to do this?

Well, Divx will run, but it's a question of how well.

On a 300 mhz machine, full res Divx Movies will not run very well. I personally have not seen a 300 mhz machine run divx, so hopefully someone that has tried this can tell you his or her experiances.

I have a second rig consisting of a celeron 333 and a TNT (w/ video out) that runs DiVX just fine.

Have seen a k6-2 550 with ATI Rage 128, cant even run divx in a window without it lagging.

I think k6-2 is really bad at running DIVXs due to its pisspoor FPU (right?). Anyways, thats been my luck.

I guess try and see, It would also depend on the bitrate and resolution of the movie.

All K6(2) processors run DiVX horridly, due to the incredibly weak FPU. I had a 333 laptop and it couldn't do it in a 320X200 window smoothly. Celerons work great though.
