What is needed for a two computer network?

Do you need the same stuff as with a larger network (router,switch, etc.) or are two ethernet cards and cable sufficent? Thanks for any replies.
 
Yup, basically. If you want to share a cable/DSL connection then you'll have to spring with a router (with built in switch) but thats it.
 
All those ideas are right . . . and there are a couple of other choices . . . a simple USB link through a module (no NICs needed) or a Firewire link. Firewire needed.) 🙂
