What Is NAV exactly?

I have a 401k.
I buy company stock but its called NAV. The cost is much lower than the actual stock price.
Is this a lesser form of stock? Is it the same thing? Can I sell it for the higher amount?

NAV = 12 bucks

Stock price = 43 bucks

What gives? I am confused and all the info on NAV does not seem to apply here.

Sounds like as an employee benefit you get to purchase company stock at a lower price. If your benefits package doesn't explain, you'll have to ask someone in the company. There may be a holding period before you can sell and reap profit.

What other investments are available in your 401(k)?

Generally speaking you don't want to invest more than 10% of your 401(K) in company stock. But of course at that price reduction and if you can sell it...

FYI, you want to invest as much money as you can afford (up to $15,500 this year) into your 401(k) every year so your money can compound tax-deferred for decades. That'll be in the top 5 smart things you'll ever do.

To finish this thread detour, your wrong. NAV is the consumer product SAV is the corporate one.
