k so the system im having trouble with is a A64 3000, MSI k8n neo 4 plat nforce 4 ultra, 1 gig (2x512) kingston hyperX pc 3200, 250GB maxtor hdd, 6600GT 128, OCZ powerstream 420W.

i was messing around on the settings for my 6600GT in windows and i saw the clock frequency setting. i selected the manual overclocking setting selected preformance 3d. then i chose detect optimal frequencies. it upped the core clock to 550 from 500 and the mem clock to like 1.2 from 1. i dont remember if i selected apply or not but i closed out of everything and tried to play counter-strike source. all of the steam stuff came up fine and worked but when i selected the game my monitor went black and i got a small screan from the monitor saying the frequency is out of range i could not get the desktop back at all so i did a manual restart. i had changed the refresh rate also so i changed that back to the lowest setting and tried again....same thing happened. i tried putting the refresh rate inbetween the frequencies (72.something and 60.something) and still nothing. the desktop comes up fine but source just will not work.

please help

Are you having the same problem with any other 3d games or applications?
