What is most likely cause of Windows98 booting in Safe Mode?

I just got a tech support call asking me to look at their windows 98 box and it's booting into safe mode so the printer doesn't work. I'm just wondering what the cause can be. It has not internet access so I'm wondering what.

Thanks, UB. I just got back from the site and didn't have the benefit of your input, but I resolved the problem by reinstalling the display drivers. The setup.exe installation file by nVidia wouldn't do the re-install because it said it couldn't find a nVidia chipset. The card is a GeForce2 400 something but I went into device manager and did a reinstall via the "Update Driver" button. Working good now.

I printed a hard copy of the page your link referenced for future use. I keep a folder of such materials I know I will need again someday.
