What is MLA format?

I have to do a paper, and on the paper it says that it needs to be in MLA format. I never heard of this format. Could somone please help me out.

There are dozens of "standard" writing formats. Each of them have a huge excess of silly (and arbitrary) rules. MLA is one of them. By using one rulebook, you get a smooth flowing paper that is easy to read (as opposed to using multiple formats). For most people, the only thing of importance is how you cite other papers. Do a Google search and you'll find many, many websites like this that highlight the most common situations.

yeap yeap. i recieved something like that when i took eng 103 years ago. it has been very usefull over the years.


Oh and MLA format aint really that hard once you figure it out.
 
I don't know, and I love it! I've gone through high school and almost 5 years of college and I still don't know, essays suck! 😛

whoah, i didn't know anyone used mla for engineering. i haven't touched it since my freshman hum classes.

"mla"will return all you need to do the paper with on the first page.
 
welcome to the world of MLA, your going to use it MANY times in throughout High School

I'm suprised your teacher dind't go over the format with the class.
