What is mfpmp.exe doing?

I play an MP3 with no DRM and its using 2-4% of my CPU and 11mb of ram, thats nothing yeah i know but why is it even open when im playing non DRM content? What is it doing?

Its only there when WMP plays any type of music, if its killed the sound cuts out, start the song again and the process will return along with sound. WMP wont crash or anything if its killed the sound just stops.

If you use any other program to play your MP3s, mfpmp.exe will not load.

Also, it seems like this process uses a lot (which is relative) of CPU because of unoptimized audio drivers and not the function of "protecting" the content being played. Try updating your drivers.
