What is Memory Initialization Mode (Gigabyte boards)

hi, google found nothing, only what the manual says.. which doesn't explain it.

Gigabyte's motherboard have this option under BIOS's memory settings: Memory Initialization Mode - AUTO, Normal Speed, High Speed, Extreme Speed.

What do the settings do?

There is already another option for performance "Memory Enhancement Mode" with the options: Auto, Stability, Normal and Performance.

Which sets memory tertiary timings I presume.

Gigabyte's support didn't help, in fact they told me the option doesn't exist. Previously they answered another question with a google link, which I already knew, so I don't expect any help from them.

Thank you all.

EDIT

This is what the manual says:

Memory Initialization Mode Allows you to configure memory timing profile for different frequency memory. Options are: Auto (default),
Normal Speed, High Speed, Extreme Speed

What's the difference between normal and extreme?

I don't own a gigabyte motherboard but I'm fairly certain this option is about the intensity of the memory check routine that's run at startup. Maybe you remember that pcs from 5-10 years ago used to count from 0 kb all the way up to x kb/mb amount of ram you had which was the progress of check the memory for flaws (and perhaps initializing it to 0 depending on the motherboard).

These days it doesn't matter much so you should be fine setting it at extreme speed.

Memory Enhance Mode sounds like either overclocking or X.M.P but I'm not sure.

It is the speed setting at which the memory is initialized by the BIOS, apparently.

Memory Initialization Mode
Allows you to configure memory timing profile for different frequency memory. Options are: Auto (default), Normal Speed, High Speed, Extreme Speed.

But that seems like other memory speed settings, so I don't know how it's different.

One probably won't work?

I also have a Gigabyte motherboard with those settings and I never understood what they did either. The RAM timings/speed are supposedly set by the XMP profile, so what are these secret timings?

answer from Gigabyte:

"These are predefine overclocking setting, please leave the option at auto for best stability results.
You may play with the setting if you wish to tweak the system to overclock the memory. However results from changing these settings are forms of overclocking and results cannot be guaranty
Thank you"
