What is making my OC unstable?

I currently have my 3200+ venice at 2550 @ 1.52v (my rig is in sig)

Other stats:

vdimm: 2.8v
cpu multi- 255X10
LDT multi- 255X4
Memory divider: 5/6

Temps are as follows:

idle: 29
Load: 40

I pass EVERYTHING:

-hours of Battlefield 2, Swat 4, Half-Life 2
-ALL 24 loops of superPi at 32m
-All 3dMarks
-ALL of Memtest86+

But at 8 hours it gets an error in Prime 95, but keeps going after the error. (is this normal?)

Any help is appreciated

Heh, I don't actually sit there and watch it. I usually run it while I'm sleeping or just doin other stuff. Prime95 creates a log that you can check to see when it errored during the night.

Most poeple don't consider an OC stable until it can Prime95 for AT LEAST 12 hours (OK, maybe just really picky people)

Which prime test is it failing?

Try lowering the HT multi to 3x, and loosening your memory timings a notch.

I'm really not sure on the test for Prime95. The first time I loaded the program it started testing on its own. All I know is that it runs my CPU at 100% and its the only program that can get my cpu temp to 40c. How do you change what "test" its running?

I looked around in the settings and all I can find is a box checked that says "load whatever work makes the most sense" Is this what you are talking about?

Also wouldn't lowering the HTT multi to X3 make it too far below its stock 1000? (765)

Lowering the HTT to 3x will make it below it's stick, but it won't hurt your performance at all. As long as you're under 1000, you'll be fine.

In prime95 under options/torture test, there are 3 tests
small files
large files
blend

An HT speed of 765 is fine and will not effect performance, anything over 500 is fine

When you launch Prime95 go to -----> Options ------> Torture Test -------> In-Place Large FFT's (max Heat).

That is the test you should let run for 24 hours to verify you are stable, if the test fails, the torture test will abort. Before running the Large FFT's test for 24 hours i run the Blend and small FFT's torture test for 1 hour each.

I am not convinced my PC is stable unless you can run the test for 24 hours while also simoultaneiusly stressing your GPU with 3DMark01 (set to looped). This will cause max heat generation from your CPU and GPU during the testing ( i started using this technique after Duvie's great posts on the subject).

Looks like I'll be running the torture test tonight!

Yes, if you are failing Prime Torture test, uping the CPU Vcore may resolve you issues. You are already at 1.52V, Personally i would not go above 1.55 volts, but i am a wimp when it come to over volting my CPU, some people push these to 1.6V.

My 3000+ Winnie will run 2.55Ghz stable if i run the Vcore at 1.55Volts, but i back it down to 2.4Ghz because i can run that stable at default Vcore (1.4V) and i can't really tell the differance between 2.4 and 2.55 unless running benchmark programs.

Yeah 1.6v core is a little higher than I want to go - I'm aiming to stay around 1.55 at the highest for now.
