what is "logical disk manager" in win2k

just wondering, but what is "logical disk manager" in windows 2000? do i need to keep it running? i'm trying to only start necessary services on bootup, and was wondering if this was relaly important. thanks.

yes its necessary...its is used to mangage all you HDD's
