alright, so after reading that, is cas 2 really worth the extra money over 2.5? and is low latency worth the price?

well...

okay...

i had two sticks of pc2700 sammy ram at 2.5-3-3-7 ... there was always this slight delay when i would open up a IE browser window....

i just got a stick of pc3000 kingston hyperx at 2-2-2-6... my windows open up SOOO fast now ....

ALSO...

ram claim to do CAS 2.5 can do CAS 2. Hmm.... let's see here... the twinmos/winbond ram is rated for cas 2.5 but people are running these things at cas 2 with no problems at all.

but a lot of people will tell you the idfference between 2.5 and 2 is minimal as the article even states...

IMHO.... i'd try to get cas 2.5 and lower...

but it all depends on what speed you want (pc2700, 2100, 3200, 3000, 3500, 3700)....

there's a great read in i think its this forum that talks about pc3200 ram... most data sheets will show that pc3200 ram is supposed to run at 3-3-3-8 and anything more aggressive is considered overclock at 400 mhz...

it depends on what platform you're using
for the P4, it is more bandwidth hungry, so i'd get higher speed RAM over latency
for the Athlon XP's, i'd get the low latency RAM as it is not a very bandwidth hungry chip
