I see all this KVM stuff for sale, KVM box, KVM omnicube, KCM Cables, KVM Network and Router etc.

what is it?

keyboard, video, mouse switch for use between multiple computers. Using a KVM allows you to have only one keyboard, monitor, and mouse and switch between computers.

they also make them to have 2+ keyboards/mouse/monitor attach to a single PC

we have some BlackBox KVM's at work that are quite nice

each box can hold up to 4 cards, each card has 1 KVM/4 PC's , we have one with 2 cards and one with 4 cards, so one is 2 KVM/8 PC's and the other is 4 KVM/16 PC's

Who makes your desk???

you dont want my desk...

it has cheap slider rails, crappy particle board w/ verneer sides, all in all, it's a piece of junk... only realized that after getting it here... they didnt even use enough glue in the joints... one of them split a little when i was trying to move it..

i'd suggest you learn basic cabinetry, and make a desk... if you dont want to, then i suggest you look for a desk manufacturer that makes all solid wood or solid wood/plywood construction desks. they are really worth it. and for that matter, you wont get away with paying less than 600 for a quality desk. i can build a good one for 3-400, though...that's why i suggest you get into cabinetry. and on top of that, you get a superior product because you know the construction methods in it.

but if you still want to buy one, stick to good name brands known for quality, not price. like ethan allen comes to mind.

the desk extension that houses murasame and masamune, and the printer, was built by me, in woodshop class at my high school, to match up right next to this desk. it does a fine job of it, i think.

i dont know if it's as bad as i make it sound... i could fix it by changing out the rails to better ones... ripping the face off the keyboard tray, and verneer taping it, and lowering the keyboard tray about an inch and a half, and that would fix most the problems with the desk...

oh well.

Okay, slightly in a different tangent here, but does anyone have a KVM that works with a Logitech Cordless keyboard? In particular, the extra buttons the keyboard has near the top (volume, play/stop, etc). I've got an el'cheapo IOGear KVM ($40) that doesn't seem to let me use these.

Thanks for the info. Which Linksys do you have? I've just been looking for something simple; ie, I'm cheap and don't want to shell out too much money. 🙂
