Kerry: Stations Have Right to Pull Stern

I can't find a damn thing, on how Kerry would reign in the FCC, or anything like that. I have a feeling he supports current decency laws, but can't find a quote on his position one way or the other.

Legislation to crack down on indecent language was introduced last year after Bono uttered an obscenity at the Golden Globe Awards program televised in January 2003. But what had been a crusade by a handful of lawmakers erupted into a bipartisan stampede after Jackson's performance. By Wednesday, the indecency bill had 144 sponsors in the House.

If Howard thinks Kerry is going to save his ass, I think he's mistaken.

Given that 172 members of the Democratic Party voted in favor of the new legislation I don't think there is mich difference between the 2 parties on this issue. People that want to see the "religious right" behind every act of this kind seem determined to ignore this fact though.

Frankly I find this a non issue, and I think the rest of the country will as well. People will forget about Janet Jackson's boob a lot faster than their lack of a job and inability to put food on the table.

Stern used to support Bush up till this problem cropped up. Now, it's the ONLY issue that matters, yet Kerry will not change a damn thing as far as I can see.

Well, by rest of the country I meant most of the country. Most of the country doesn't have a shock radio show.
