Discussion What is keeping GPU's at such high prices?

Three things:

1: the assembling and the chipmaking(development) for gpus, vram and the cards design, backplate, thremal solutions is going freaking higher since rtx 2080;

2: cards are more expensive because gpu partners as Sapphire and EVGA and Asus wants more profit;

3: GPU makers wants more profits.

I can tell you it isn't mining, no point mining on GPUs anymore. Though AI could have an impact, at least on the higher end cards. Some of it is just that AMD and Nvidia are simply putting out newer GPUs at higher prices, (likely higher margins). That said, some last gen cards can still be found new in stock, and there can be better deals there than on current gen cards. For instance, RX 6700XT/6750XT cards for under $300. Or the odd RX 6800 for under $400.

Thanks for the responses. Are the 5000 series Nvidia going to drop some prices or are they going to stay the same? Or is it all just speculation at this point?

When are the 5000 series going to come out? Between gpu and CPU you are talking $1100 at this point 😬 (4070 Super / 9800x3d)

Though it is mainly speculation, I don't think the Geforce 5000 are going to be cheaper. Also, I am moving this to the general GPU forum, as it has to do with all GPU prices, not just AMD.

I think I will keep looking for a deal on a 4070 super, so far $600 seems to be the new price constant, 🤬

Will a 4070 super 12gb mated with a 9800x3d be capable of playable 4k fps in bf2042 & bf:v?
