I'm in the process of getting myself a new rig, and thought that I could finance the project by selling of my old computer along with another seldom used one. However I don't quite know how much one can expect to get for the stuff so I was hoping some of you might know.

First computer, about 4 years old:

Case: Lian-Li PC60
Mobo: ASUS P4S8X (using some obscure SiS cipset, can't find it on ASUS site any more :( )
CPU: P4 2.66GHz
RAM: 1GB PC2700 DDR
GPU: Asus GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP (Quite new)
CD/DVD: NEC ND-1300A DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW burner 4x
NIC: 100Mbit onboard
Sound: SoundBlaster Audigy
HD: 80GB Seagate PATA
PSU: Zalman 300W

My other computer, some 2,5 years old but hardly ever used (mostly due to loudness), it's a Shuttle SB75G2 SFF:

CPU: P4 Northwood 3.2GHz HT
RAM: 512MB PC3200 DDR
GPU: GeForce FX5200 128MB
Sound: SoundBlaster Live 5.1
NIC: 1GBit onboard
CD/DVD: DVD+RW brännare
HD: 120GB Maxtor PATA

I'd also like to know what you thing I might get for my Samsung SyncMaster 959NF doing 1280x1024@101Hz. There's really nothing wrong with the monitor, but I spend quite some time in front of it and I've heard that a TFT is better for the eyes (and I'm thinking of getting a wide-screen).

I have no idea, but just an FYI, they don't allow price checks here.

If you're planning to sell it as a whole system, just compare it to current systems being sold & then subtract enough to make people interested.

60% of the lowest retail price now available online for each of the components. But that is for items that are still considered desirable, others are only worth whatever you can get...if anything.

They don't allow price checks. It is hard to determine how much you should sell stuff for....

not much. self built stuff has no garrantee of quality at all. components age rather quickly. theres wear and tear on stuff like the harddrives. and of course its all used, possibly overclocked, who knows. you are just either going to have to try to sell off bits separately which is a lotta trouble and won't yield much or selll the whole computer as a unit at a very low price. and well u can get a dual core system from dell for 432bucks these days....

and a person interested in a low end computer is not the same person would care about audiology and your 6600gt. not that the gt is fast enough for gaming these days anyways

May I suggest you check eBay for used units. That should give you a basis whether to offer your rigs for sale. A CRT is difficult to sell because shipping would be too high.
You could put your items up for sale in AT's FS/Trade forum. Selling parts might be more attractive to buyers, but its time consuming. Its your choice. Good luck.
