What is it with pit crews??

Just watched the opeining of the Daytona 500 and i have noticed that 99% of the pit crews do not remove their hats or place their right hand over their heart during the National Anthem. Ive noticed this with other races too, what gives?

First off, your insult is backwards. Second, get some damned respect for your country, and the people who died to give you your freedom today. That goes for the pit crews too.

NASCAR is so messed up anyway. Why even bother watching it? I never think that they can get more commercialism into NASCAR and they never cease to amaze me. I love those new views of the cars as they walk around them. They probably think we think that they are showing us cool views of the cars, but it's probably to show off all the sponsor tags (close up) on the cars. Heh.. Jay Leno as the pace car driver? I'm surprised he didn't plug who was going to be on his show this week when they interviewed him in the pace car. I loved it when the guy told the Drivers to start their engines. Instead of "Driver's start your engines", they had to add in something about Dupont. Give me a break!!!

They probably leave the helmets because they are advertising for something and they probably don't cover their hearts, so they don't cover a sponsor's badge on their uniform. If they could work a sponsor onto the American flag, I think they would.
