So, I come back from class today to see this old guy digging through the passenger side of his car with the door open, the door is rocking and each time hitting my drivers side door.

me: Excuse me, what the hell are you doing?
him:eek:h sorry am I in your way
me: Yes you are but your hitting my car with your door, you want to cut it out?
him:I didnt even notice, I have to go. <walks away as he rams my door one more time and closes his>

at this point i was *fuming* and wanted to kill him. I really thought about going into my trunk for the trusty 6 iron. I examine my door and find a dent where his door was hitting my car. (Plus purple paint on my white paint).

Seriously are people retarded? Do they have any common courtesy anymore? Next time, I will end up in the police station for blowing up on the guy/car (whichever, it really doesnt matter to me). </rant>

CN:
1.guy repeatedly slams door into mine
2.confront guy
3.guy walks away leaving me pissed

In most states, door dings are the same as an accident. Two cars touch and damage is caused. Driving off is hit-and-run. I would have forced him to pay for it and/or gotten his insurance info.

That's pretty messed up. I try and be careful when opening my door, and expect others to do the same. The occassional accident is one thing, but actively continueing the action while aware of the bad consequences is asking for trouble.

Some guys got into the VP's car at my old high school - total utter bitch who claimed that a guy stole 30 computers during school hours, in a 15-minute break - and managed to drop a deuce on the dashboard. The dashboard. I can't even fathom the balance that took to drop a log up there. :Q

I'm assuming he bled the lizard on the driver's seat too. I mean, you're in there with trou around ankles - why not?

$hit happens, and it's just a damn car. Nothing to "want to kill" anybody about.

Once you start to view a car as "just a damn car," as the offender most likely has, it won't bother you anymore.

I love driving, but I hate cars. My damn car is expensive to buy, worthless to sell, but necessary in my life. That's it--that's all it is. It's pointless to waste energy getting worked up over every little door ding on something that loses value faster than a personal computer.

Life?s too short to waste worrying about the inevitable.

its more than just a car, when you do all the work yourself, put money into it, join a community to learn more about it, take the time to learn the ins and outs, plus its principle... you dont ram your door repeatedly into someone elses.

See... this is the reason why I park as far away from other people as possible. You know what's even worse? A SUV, a mother, and a child seat. :|:|

If I'm parked in a tight space, I usually open the door a bit, put my hand on the edge of it, and open it until my hand touches the other guy's door. Then I squeeze through, with zero damage to either car.

Seriously, my car sucks and I don't care if it gets dented, but some people really like their cars. Why screw them up when it's so easy not to?

I went shopping with my wife a while back and when we got out of the mall, someone have parked their passenger side door DIRECTLY next to my passenger side door. There was may 4 inches between the cars. I figured the person was at the mall alone and did not realize how close they were. On closer inspection, someone was in the passenger side of the other car and tried to get out. My door has a couple of nice dents and matching paint from the other car. Presumably the passenger of that car climbed out the driver side, instead of just having the car moved. Or they weighed 35 pounds. Anyway...

Seeing the dents on my car, I manuevered my car away from the other car so I was about a foot away, then shoved my door into the other car. Looking at the dent on the other car was so satifying, I moved my car up a few inches, and gave the other car a nice matching dent. The other car was way worse off than mine was since I had more room to build up momentum in the door, and was trying to make the biggest dent I could. Payback complete.
