Because it will probably be played in the snow, the Jets/Bengals game is must-watch TV for me. I know others who feel the same way about snow football.

What is it about watching football played in the snow?

I also like heavy rain and mud games, too, BTW.

Because that's the way football is meant to played...outdoors, in the elements.

it's unfortunate that the economics are pushing the remaining "grass" teams towards turf. even the new, improved (long blades, rubber pellets simulating dirt) turf is still synthetic and sterile.

example:
a few years ago, the patriots switched from grass to new turf after a particularly active and hostile year for the field, with lots of concerts, nfl, mls, hostile weather, et cetera. the quality of the field eventually dropped below what the team and the league expect for standards. rather than losing money by curtailing activities, fake grass was the only option.

i think it's arizona that has the modular playing surface. the whole field slides out on a tray and a new one slides in. ha, it must be nice to have all the sunlight and open space you could ask for.

I love snow and rain filled games, makes it a lot more fun to watch the game.

I just hate that the Super Bowl is always in either a dome or a warm location.

Football belongs outdoors. Wind/rain/snow are just part of the game. Fuck closed stadiums.

i love watching outdoor sports in the elements... i'd like to see more outdoor NHL games, i think they have been met with great success from a good portion of the public that normally doesn't watch hockey...

it's also fun to play NCAA 09 football in blizzard-like conditions :D

It adds to the epicness of the game. Football is already a tough game, but then have the teams fighting it out in a blizzard or a heavy downpour? Classic.

The fans are also tough and crazy, too. I wouldn't even go outside if it was below 60, let alone be in a stadium for hours at a time in a blizzard or massive rain!

Bummer. I don't get to see any of snow today.

What I want is Chicago. What I get is Jacksonville, San Diego and Detroit (dome).

Argh.

Agreed. but once in my life, I do want to watch a snow game in person.

...once.

I have been to a game played during a hurricane once. It was awesome; whiskey is required.

Don't think i want to do that again, though. :D

I was at the Big Chill yesterday, wasn't even that cold actually. Great time, but that's not something I want to do too often.

Football would be better though, way more entertaining than college hockey.

Haha, people were bullshit about the Pats switching playing surfaces like that mid season...I've since heard it's now against NFL rules to do so, I wonder if that's true.

Sucks that the NFL kisses sponsors butts to the extent that there will never be a Super Bowl game played at Gillette [or any other roofless northern stadium] in the snow in February, which would be fantastic.

The game ought to be more important than the advertisers' drunken outdoor pool parties.

I remember in college seeing the QB throw a deep pass and it disappearing into the falling snow. Didn't know until hearing the crowd further down the field if it'd been caught or not.

That was fun in college, but it might've just been because I was hella drunk. Don't think I'd watch a game in those conditions now.
