I read some refernce to Buy.com sending warnings about coupons in some other thread. But it was locked up for whatever reason. I did not participate in the $50 off $50 madness, but sure am curious to know what was buy.com's reaction to it !!!

Anybody care to elaborate on the warning ?

they gave two options: return the product, or RESPOND saying you will pay full price (to authorize the charge).

BUT, the option of "what if i keep it" isn't address which many ppl chose to take.

What the heck !!! If there is a "OR", it means you do either of the optiosn. If you choose a third option (Keeping it, throwing it out, destroying it !!!), then I would say you are on sticky ground .

Could someone please take a second and tell me what happened? I've been away, and I'm feeling lost. This sounds interesting.

I heard they hired Janet Reno to personally kick-in the doors of everyone who exploited this SNAFU :)

The reason for the third option is buy.com has no authority to charge you unless you reply. And it seems a lot of ppl don't want to return it (i will, i've requested, but they haven't sent me the shipping slip).

And here's the catch, even though buy.com probably could take you to court, what's it gunna cost them? There were lots who got in on it, and it's a flaw in their coupon system. So it doesn't seem like they really would/will do anything if that "third" option is taken.

I guess time will tell. So far, nothing.

Well, they didn't like it very much actually.
