What is Initial D?

My roommate sent me an mp3 by him. I know he has something to do with 240sxes (or Silvias)...

Searching on google I find stuff like this forum post and Initial D models. Who/what is Initial D?

Initial D is an Anime that revolves around racing and drifting. Its about some Tofu Delivery guy who drives his Father's Toyota Corolla (AE86), and gets challenged by a legendary driver with an RX7. Mr Tofu wins, and somehow there is a series revolving around this, and his quest to be the best racer or something.

I havn't seen any episodes, just heard about it.

Let's just say that the parts about the racing and drifting are very good. Don't worry about the story too much. Just that they have to race or they'll die. 🙂

oookay..? did you even watch it? they will die if they dont race ?

...didn't like it much. felt like torture watching it.

EDIT: then again, I don't like a lot of animes. For example, I thought Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was just one cheezy soap opera with half decent animation and music. Why it's ranked #1 on animenfo...I will never know.

but i've never seen initial D.

i recently saw an arcade game spin off the other day....

The actual anime part of the show is kinda bad...the dialogue and all pissed me off..but the CGI of the ctual races is sweet.

Of course I'm not a fan of anime..so that could be why I didn't enjoy it.

i personally dont like any type of anime in general (strange because im asian). but i wont pass judgement on initial d because ive never watched it. my friends like it though, so it has to have some substance. they have these initial d arcades at the arcades and you can save your own custom cars on cards that the machine prints i think. then you can play with those the next time you go to the arcade against your buds.

i've been addicted to initial d for years now 🙂 (the music is pretty cool, but i always hide the cd's before my friends get in my car because i know they'll be like wtf)

i dunno, i'm obsessed with cars (unfortunately i'm not very handy around them...yet 🙂), so maybe that's why..
