are you sure your not ringing a premium rate number & listening to a recording of a busy tone. that scam is becoming more prevalent unfortunately! :disgust:

Thank god! :)

No, there isn't anything you can do to increase your chances of getting through -- other than calling as often as possible.

but that still doesnt answer my question, there are people calling in, how does the system handle the incoming calls? does it just send them into limbo to for ever listen to that contant beep? or does it some how place them in line?

Yes. Busy signal means you aren't going to get through on that particular call... ever. Please hang up and try again.

You'll hear the busy signal for several minutes and then you will be completely disconnected. You won't get through if you stay on the line listening to the busy signal.

it's called SS7 :) you gotta hang up -- but I used to work at a station and if you call often during non-busy times and flirt with members of the opposite sex, sometimes they will help you win promos... at least they will feel sorry for you and give you something. for maximum benefit mention you and your family of 12 just got an "Arbitron booklet"!!!!

What is really cool is the fact that when they ask for caller 10 they really take like caller 100. They have banks of phones and pick up the lines saying caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 1 sorry, caller 2 sorry, caller 2 sorry, caller 2 sorry, caller 2 sorry, caller 2 sorry, etc.

I found this out one night after I told my friend that I kept hanging up and hitting redial and ended up being told I was caller 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8.
