What is going on with my HD?

Alright, here's the deal. After booting my comp, my hard drive just keeps on running, the jd light just keep flashing. I mean this keep going on for like 5-10 min after Windows loaded. I can't open IE until the light stops. Is something scanning my hd? Is it spyware? The comp runs fine after all that activities. Thank you in advance.

Scan for these things, and look for your HD Manufacture's Disk Utillites. You should be able to put them on a bootable floppy and scan for bad sectors and the such.

What he said...sounds like you've got spyware/virus issues. Another thing you could check is-->start-->run-->..type in "msconfig"--->go to the "startup" tab and uncheck all non essential programs. Unless you've got AV or spamkillers or such that should be running in the background, you don't need anything checked there.
