All visitors to anandtech forum,

I am gonna switch from IBM-compatible PC to Macintosh system. One target is hopefully PowerMac G5 if my budget allows me, however monitor is not included in consideration because of financial concern. Instead, I am gonna use my current monitor in such way as sharing. My question is this: what is formal name of device which allows a user for sharing monitors among two or more systems? Expecting kindly-written replies as much degree as my esl teachers do 🙂

One device is the KVM switch. Keyboard/Video/mouse.
Share all those devices with the two computers..

For switching between computers you use a keyboard sequence, for my home machines I just have to tap ctrl twice fast to switch.

Its called a KVM switch, maybe something like this. I've never used one, and I'm unfamiliar with the technology myself. Welcome to AT!
Good luck!

Doh!

Bootprint,

Thank you for your reply with useful link. This link seems helps me a lot and my gratitude will be returned as another help to other visitors someday in future. KVM switch rules, Bootprint rules, Anandtech rules~!!
