what is FDC error?!

i start booting and i here a beep twice and follow a single now i don't know what this FDC error and i press F1 as instructed and it runs to windows but i got hang withion mins. freezes my computer as hell i try flashing, no help and i try to diagnose(maxtor diag) my harddrive but it won't detect. i use k7-700 with sd-11 on a 128pc-128. pls. help

I think its Floppy Disk Controller error... I think...

Try and see if your floppy cables are backwards or something.

no, it's not backward. it's been like that ever since i put it together. should i disable it from booting? btw, i have a maxtor 13.gig udma66

A few things to try before you try to disable it:

Check the cable orientation (usually Red towards Power)
Reseat cable (both ends)
Check your bios settings (should be 3.5" 1.44MB ect.)
Replace cable
Replace floppy

In Windows, under System properties>Performance tab>File system>Floppy disk tab...

By checking and unchecking the Search for new floppy, this will stop the beeps from happening on windows startup.
