8400GS is not a gaming card in any way form or fashion.

Stay away from both NV/ATI's x400 series (2400/3400/8400 etc.). They typically have a 64-bit memory bus and are slightly more functional than integrated graphics. I haven't seen benches in a while but I'm 99% sure the 7950GT would beat (or at least tie) even a 8600GTS in most games.

I suppose the only worthwhile upgrade for you would be a 3870 or 8800GT. Or maybe a 512MB 3850 (but I am not entirely sure how much of an improvement there would be).

8400GS is bottom-of-the-barrel performance-wise (in the 8xxx series), but gives you DirectX 10 capability that should outperform integrated GPUs (from the slickdeals thread "nice upgrade from onboard 6150"). From what I read, the 8400GS wasn't even supposed to be released in retail cards, just OEM, but I guess some manufacturers got quiet approval from nVidia.

Yeah, I'd say the 7950GT should WAY outperform a 8400GS.

No, you should get a TurboCache version, that one can use even more memory from your main RAM.

In Direct x 10, the 8400gs wins 100% of the time :p

In everything else the 7950GT slaughters the 8400gs about 5x over. 7950GT cant do dx10 lol)
