What is Dual Channel DDR?

Does anybody have a good link to a description of the various types of memory? There's lots of talk about dual channel ddr lately, and i am trying to read up on what "dual channel" means. Seems the new mobos all need it. Thanks.

its not a form of memory needed to run in the new boards, its a type of technology

the jist of it:

pc2100 operates offerrs 2.1gb/s bandwidth
pc2100 in a dual channel system offerrs 4.2gb/s bandwidth
