What is donating Plasma?

What is donating Plasma? Today in calculus this kid was talkin to me about dontating sperm and how if he came up with a gallon of sperm he could by his dream computer...yeah he is an AT member also lol...

Anyways i heard about plasma donations for money, what is plasma, how do they extract it, and how much can u earn? (Not really planning on it, just wondering)

plasma is, i think, the platelets in your blood.

they basically stick a needle in you, take the plasma out, then put your blood back into you. it can be done weekly.

My girlfriend does it - I think it's gross. I think they take a bunch of blood out of you, take the contents and separate it somehow and extract the "plasma" and then put the remaining fluid/material/bile/pus/mucus/other gross crap back into your body again. I'm glad I'm not broke to have to resort to this!

plasma is the liquid part of blood that can be separated out. it can be used in place of full blood for most things. it lasts longer too. best to use parts instead of wasting the whole for most things.

Plasma is the liquid stuff.

Platelets are little pieces of, lets just call it scrap building materials. Very important for clotting and used quite often for cancer patients undergoing chemo.

Whole blood, well is a pint of everything.
