What is different with matinee shows?

I want to go watch a broadway adaptation of a play in the local theater. They have tickets for matinee showings. I don't know much about them except that they are normally held in the afternoon.

Do these matinee showings differ from the "regular" shows? Do they normally take out certain scenes?

TIA

It's just the time of the showing, sometime during the day. Usually the afternoon.

Everything else should be the same.

on Broadway often they use the understudies in matinees. Since yours is local theater, there is probably no difference.
