what is currently the fastest processor out there?

Pentium 4 3.0 C (3GHz and 800 FSB)
Athlon XP 3200+ (400 fsb)

each can beat the other in different tests
(iono about transistors hehe)

No, he does not. both use a basic 200Mhz FSB, but you double that using DDR (Double Data Rate) RAM where addresses are sent twice per clockcycle. Then the P4 also uses what has been called a "quad-pumped data transfer rate" to quadruple that to 800Mhz. Now that's actually just the data bandwidth, the addresses are transferred at 400MHz on these P4's.

Blah blah blah

apparently you missed the smiley. back on topic, the 3.0C is currently the fastest desktop x86 processor you can buy.

heh, er well i guess i did miss out the p4 on that one, ok both run at 200mhz fsb, but i think you mean system bus being 400 athlon/800 pentium not front side bus..

thanks for your explanation on how ram and buses work but i already knew

the AMD XP3200+ will be the fastest out there, once there is a motherboard made with the new Nforce chipset for it. Right now, its just under-performing the P4 3.06
