A stepping is basicly the revision of the proccessor. Sometimes a newer stepping means they improved the manufacturing process to get better yields, or higher average clock speeds. It can also mean new features have been turned on such as when they added SSE3 to the A64's, or the improved memory controller thats in venice/san diego.

God I love it when someone else asks a question I want to ask.

Is there a guide anywhere that explains the steppings for doofuses like us? :)
