What is considered a B+ at your university/college?

University of Wisconsin - Madison

It varies from department to department, and/or class to class. And depends on whether or not there's a curve.

3.33 out of 4

86-89% B+

A- is 90-94

A is 95-100

This is at Northeastern University. Does not apply to certain classes that have huge curves obviously

I would never have guessed you went to purdue!! omgz0rz.

Thanks for your feedback 🙂

Anyone else?

We don't do +/- but it varies by prof how many A's/B's/etc they want to give out. Usually they go for a bell curve where a small portion get As and a small portion fail, with the bulk of people in the middle.

B - 80-84
B+ - 85-89
A-90-100
New Jersey Institute of Technology

Sorta strange that B is the only grade that we have a + for 😕

It completely depends on the course at UW Madison.

In my experience, most classes end up getting some form of a bell curve, although not always.

Also there is no B+ or A-, we have an AB.

What if you got an 89.999999999... would you get no grade?

No of course not! Thats just how far their calculators go...everything else would be automatically rounded up 😉

What's the incentive to going the extra mile to get 97-100 when 90 can receive just the same grade?

The knowledge that you got a 97-100%. In other words, there is none.

the fact that you can slack off for the final and such.

didn't say I liked the system....thats just what it is

McGill University grading
A: grade > 85
A-: 80 < grade < 85
B+: 75 < grade < 80
B: 70 < grade < 75
B-: 65 < grade < 70
C+: 60 < grade < 65
C: 55 < grade < 60
D: 50 < grade < 55
F: grade < 50

edit: in the end it doesn't really matter how you set up the grades the prof always curve either down or up to get a B'ish average at any school
