For some reason all of a sudden when I boot up my system I get a error and beep with the message: "While initilizing device CONFIGMG:Windows protection error.You need to restart your computer."
I cntrl/alt/delet and then it asks which mode I want to start in normal,safe etc.I choose normal and it reboots and goes back to the same above message.It does this two or three times before starting windows.Some times asking twice which mode to start in.
I am running WIN 98 SE
Athlon T-bird 1200
ECS K7S5A MB
512Mb ram Crucial DDR
GeForce 64Mb
Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer
It started doing this it seems after I updated my NERO software.But Im not sure it has anything to do with it.
Any help would be appreciated!:);):(:eek::disgust::D:|:Q:p:cool::frown::confused:

I know this article isn't exactly the same as your setup (ECS mobo vs. MSI mobo), but I read a few forums that show similar symptoms on a variety of motherboards Microsoft Link

Basically, other people were saying to make sure you have the latest BIOS installed, make sure IRQ for VGA is enabled in the BIOS, and also make sure that primary VGA is set to AGP in the BIOS (if ur using an AGP video card). A few other more extreme suggestions were to disable the L2 cache on the proc just for testing purposes, and check for overheating.

hope this helps
