What is causing my comp to freeze and blue screen in BF2?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have downloaded the BF2 demo and have been plahying it for he past month or so, but have had a continous problem. While playing the game at any time it may freeze! The game just freezes and then after a while maybe 10-30sec. I get the blue screen of death. Here are my specs:

Asus A8N-E motherboard
Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester
2x512 Corsair XMS PC3200 ram in dual channel
BB ATI X800XL running the stock ati drivers included with video card
Western Digital 80gb hdd 7200rpm
Ultra X-connect 500w psu

Heres what I think the possible problems may be:
-The Ati Drivers are causing the game to freeze(if so which ones whould I download?)
-The Corsair memory doesn't like this mobo since it is an nf4 chipset
-The ultra X-connect's rails may be unstable since its using a 20-24pin adapter and not a native 24pin connection
-This is common with the demo and is just a bug

BTW: this does not seem to occur in any other games such as far cry, hl2, and cs:s.

Check your memory, check your temps, I'd always heard that the X-connect PSU was a POS, so maybe your power is fluctuating/not stable?

What does the BSOD tell you?

Is the bsod the blue screen? If so it is just blank? How would I know if the psu is fluctuating and know if my memery is good? My temps are fine though.

there's programs you can get to test the memory...memtest I think
Dunno how to test the PSU.
The BSOD is blank? like, nothing on it at all? That's wierd and not very helpful....usually there's somekind of error code and other gibberish.

Beyond that, I'm crap at troubleshooting things like that.

Don't blame your computer for this, my system is stable but crashes several times when I play BF2. This game rules, but has a lot of bugs. They will release an update 1.03 soon that I hope will fix the majority of bugs.

This refers to bolded part. I think when BF2 came out, it came w/ its own drivers u should use, even so, i'd say get the most recent offical drivers from ati.
EDIT; oh ya, possible that only nvidia had special drivers, as thats what card i have. Check on this though.

My friend also gets a mysterious blank blue screen that I can't track down either. I wonder if it's related. His memtest86 passed fine for hours. His PC has bad general stability problems though, and he doesn't play BF2.

No, I am not proud that I am running stock ati drivers. I jsut never really felt like looking online with newer drivers when those should work fine. I can't run memtest b/c I don't have a floppy drive.
