Burn-Proof technology eliminates buffer underrun errors in fast write modes, allows for multi-tasking. Sometimes your CDROM can't keep pace reading, causing a delay and resulting in the creation of frisbees or coasters. Burn Proof remedies that.

And just to add to what Tates said

It does this by stoping the burning process when the Buffer gets low. Then it waits til the buffer is full. It then starts the burn process back on the cd-r at the point where the laser stopped before.

amazing stuff on how it can start back up again at the previous stop point.

Good drives are any of the Plextor-based ones, like TDK, some Iomega and, of course, Plextor.

BURNProof has saved me from several coasters, so it's a mandatory feature for me.

what sold me on burn-proof was burning some data, ~ 600 mb at 12x from hard-drive to burner (remarked plextor 12x10x32a) and then starting install of diablo 2 while the burn had just started. Got to the second install disk, and the burn finished fine after an extended burn of ~9 minutes .. but no coaster. I'm definately getting the technology on all my burners from now on.

Yeah, Burnproof is cool. I played Q3 Arena while burning once just to test it out. No coaster!
