I am using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 software for bunring CD's with my HP9110i burner. I have successfully burned a copy of WIN2K and other software. When trying to burn a copy of Norton, for example, it keeps failing with the following errors at about the 97% complete stage. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

T0100: I/O error (6C/C5/00) - Write error - buffer underrun occured
T0100: I/O error (6C/C5/00) - Write error - buffer underrun occured
T7127: TrackWriter - Flush Failed
T7118: TrackWriter - Command retry failed

A buffer underrun occurs when a computer can't feed data to the CDRW fast enough. The buffer empties and a coaster is made. This is because burning needs to be continuous. So the drive can't just remember where it was and start up again when the drives buffer fills up again (except with the new burn proff drives, they're supposed to eliminate buffer underruns). Some forms of copy protection also can cause buffer underruns.

You could try raising the priority of the burn process by using the Task Manager.
But as the other guy says, your problem might be caused by copy protection.

Try give your CPU Fully to the program by not running any other program when burning

It might be your Norton CD is slightly scratched.

If you made it 97%, then there probably isn't anything in your system that is too slow for the most part.

Try telling the CD Copier to copy the disk image to your HD first. If it can do that, then any scratch/etc on the disk will be irrelevant. Then burn the disc with the image from the HD.

Assuming no copy protection, it should do just fine, since you said the drive works for other discs.

Speaking of bad orginals, anyone notice that games seem to be shipped on sub-standard mastered CDs lately? For new copies of Baldur's gate 1 and 2, The Sims, etc, at least the ones I bought (at CompUSA or otherwise reputable stores), seem to have scratches on them. Had to exchange them for good originals, or failing that, burn copies to get full-speed read performance from them.

Thanks for all the info. I will give those suggestions a try. I am leading towards the copy protection.
